Now that’s a brilliant sales pitch! Leonardo DiCaprio was caught nomming on some Girl Scout cookies at the Oscars, and a troop in New York used his pic to sell boxes of their delicious treats. See the hilarious sign they made right here!
If you want to be like Leonardo DiCaprio, all you have to do is buy some Girl Scout cookies! He did chow down on the sweet snacks just before his big Oscar win, after all. The 41-year-old actor made quite the priceless face while he ate his box of cookies at the ceremony, and the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County decided to try profiting from it with a super clever sign at one of their cookie booths!
The troop’s poster was shared on the official Girl Scout Cookies Facebook page, which showed a picture of Leo holding a box — which the girls hoped would entice more customers to come buy cookies. But it was the text that was the real kicker! “This is Leo. Leo wants an Oscar. Leo buys Girl Scout Cookies at the Awards. Leo wins an Oscar. Leo is smart,” the sign reads. “Be like Leo. Buy Girl Scout Cookies.”
Okay, can you say genius? Frankly, the troop could’ve just used the hilarious picture of Leo as their cookie advertisement without any text at all. Using the viral “Be Like Bill” meme as inspiration, though, the girls practically made it impossible to say no to a box with a sign like that! A rep from the Girl Scouts even told us that the Leo ad totally worked, which allowed the troop to go on educational trips, complete badges, and complete community service projects — too cool!
In case you missed the Oscars, Chris Rock enlisted the star-studded audience to boost cookie sales for his daughters’ Girl Scout troop. He even called out Leo to pitch in! Judging by Leo’s enthusiasm for his box of Trefoils, though, he didn’t need any bribing to buy a box. No wonder the Girl Scouts wanted to capitalize on it to sell even more! Plus, Chris’ sales pitch was pretty darn successful, raking in $2,500 for the girls that walked around selling boxes. While that is significantly lower than the initial $65K Chris announced on stage, $2,500 is nothing to be upset about — especially when $5 of it is from a hunk like Leonardo DiCaprio! We love Girl Scout cookies anyway, but the Leo sign certainly makes us want to buy a box or two…or several. Let’s be honest, they’re delicious with or without Leo’s endorsement!
