If JoJo Fletcher ends up being the finalist dumped at the very last minute by Bachelor Ben Higgins, then she deserves to be the next Bachelorette.
Imagine being told by Bachelor Ben Higgins that he loves you, spending a passionate overnight in the fantasy suite like both JoJo Fletcher and Lauren Bushnell did, then getting ditched. That happens to one of the two Bachelor finalists, and it’s a devastating experience for the unlucky woman.
“She was upset and heartbroken,” an insider told Us Weekly. Not that you’d be surprised by that reaction. Any jilted woman would be torn apart. And having her humiliation taped for national TV would only crater her ego even more. Now, I’m convinced that if JoJo is indeed Ben Higgins’ discarded finalist, she should be chosen to be the next Bachelorette. If it’s Lauren Bushnell, I don’t feel the same way. I’m not convinced that she’d have the requisite chutzpah Ito take on the tough task of making out with multiple men. It’s JoJo who has the outgoing, upbeat personality essential for a successful Bachelorette.
A real estate developer, 25, JoJo was repeatedly described during this season of The Bachelor as as the one contender for Ben’s heart who let him wholly be himself. He described her as “fun”, “exciting” and the “life of the party”! She did have the guts to step out of her limousine during the show’s premiere wearing a unicorn head. She also was unabashedly looking to fall in love and make a commitment. She was ready for marriage and had put her ex-boyfriend firmly in the past.
Of course, these are all necessary attributes for a TV Bachelorette. There’s never been a Juan Pablo-esque Bachelorette, who took a pass on an engagement at the end of the season. The show may not have ultimately led to marriage like what happened to Emily Maynard and Andi Dorfman, but at least every Bachelorette has taken the engagement step.
I’m sure that JoJo wouldn’t disappoint.
Now, let’s also consider the dramatic possibilities with JoJo. We now know that she has those two protective older brothers, Matt Patton, 38, and Ben Patton, 35, who intimidated Ben Higgins by accusing him of “brainwashing” their little sis. All of JoJo’s bachelor contenders are going to have to run the gauntlet of this critical pair. Can you just see the pair dropping in unexpectedly to assorted cocktail parties to set off drama.
Actually, if JoJo becomes the Bachelorette, then it’s fate. Older brother Ben was once under contract himself to be The Bachelor yes, The Bachelor – but he was unable to go on a quest for TV love when he had to move to Abu Dhabi for work.
We’ll find out on March 14 which finalist Ben loves just a little bit more, and receives his proposal and 4 carat engagement ring. Ben is reportedly still engaged to the woman he choses. But if it’s not JoJo, then let’s hear it for her as the next Bachelorette.
Do you agree, Hollywoodlifers? Let me know.
