Ouch! Hulk Hogan’s pride took more of a beating over leaked sex tape than anything that ever happened to him in the wrestling ring. The blonde brawler has testified that the website Gawker publishing video from it left him a devastated mess.
Tough guy Hulk Hogan, 62, was anything but in a Florida courtroom March 7, as the black bandana wearing former WWE champ testified how destroyed he was when Gawker media posted a nearly two-minute snippet of a sex tape that he was featured in, even though he claims he was unaware of it ever being made! Read on for what he had to say in his $100 million lawsuit that could put Gawker out of business!
“I was completely humiliated,” he said, testifying under his real name Terry Bollea, and noted that it hurt his professional wrestling identity as well. “It was even embarrassing as my character. Hulk Hogan was embarrassed.” He recalled when he first found out that a sex tape video was out there when, “Some still images came up and TMZ called me and said ‘hey, there’s a rumor that there might be a tape out there, a sex tape.'” The news left him completely sickened according to testimony, when he said after the call, “I was pretty rocked. I felt numb. My hands started shaking violently when I got off the phone. I couldn’t quit shaking.”
The video that Gawker eventually released showed Hulk having sex with the wife of his then-best friend, radio shock jock Bubba “The Love Sponge” Clem. Lawyers for the former reality TV star claim he had a right to expect privacy in her private bedroom and that he had no idea he was being filmed. The tape is filmed from what looks like the corner of a ceiling looking down at the bed.
Gawker stands by its release of Hulk’s sex tape in 2012, claiming it was free speech under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and that because Hulk had talked about his sex life in the past, it was just doing topical reporting. While a loss could put Gawker out of business, one of their attorneys said they’d appeal any unfavorable outcome in the case.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Hulk stands a chance of winning $100 million over the sex tape?
