It’s here! The MLS gets underway with Seattle Sounders hoping to get their campaign off to a winning start. But they will be coming up against a Sporting Kansas City team that will be confident of getting the win. Will USA soccer hero Clint Dempsey lead the Sounders to glory? Well, you can find out by clicking down to watch the live stream
Sounders FC go into this game after a disastrous second leg result in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League in which they crashed to a 3-1 defeat (5-3 on aggregate) to Mexican giants Club America at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on March 2.
However, there were plenty of positives to take from defeat and they also boast a proud record in the MLS as one of the most consistent teams in the competition. They’ve made the playoffs every year since 2009, which no mean feat.
But this year could be very tough on Seattle, and they might be hard-pushed to repeat their previous heroics. They will be relying heavily on talisman Clint to get them goals after losing Obafemi Martins and Marco Pappa. And they will keep things tight defensively with goalkeeper Stefan Frei returning — he conceded 36 goals in 34 games last season as Seattle boasted one of the best defenses.
Kansas City also have a great MLS record, having appeared in the last 5 playoffs. Graham Zusi will be pulling the strings in the middle of the park, while Dom Dwyer will be looking to improve on his 12 goals last term.
It could be a spectacular start to the season in Washington, with plenty of goals on offer. It’s hard to look past the home team, but anything can happen. Maybe a high-scoring tie!
