It wasn’t long ago that Arsenal were the cream of the crop, but a number of bad results and two recent defeats to Manchester United and Swansea have severely dented any aspirations they had of being champions. In fact, they were booed off the pitch in their 2-1 home defeat to the lowly Swans, so all is not well in their camp.
Spurs are now many people’s favorite to win the Premier League, there first since 1961. However, they didn’t do their chances any good last time out when they stuttered to a 1-0 loss at West Ham, who were delighted to have got one over their London rival.
They sit in second place in the standings, just one win and three points from Leicester City in first spot. Arsenal, on the other hand, trails Spurs by three points and are 6 off the top. It’s a must-win for the reds with only 10 games remaining until the season ends.
Arsenal is also rocked by injuries ahead of the game. Their inspirational goalkeeper Petr Cech is said to be struggling with a groin injury and may miss out. Their best defender Laurent Koscielny is also expected to be absent with a calf injury.
This will be a fierce game, with the intense rivalry between these giants only fueled by the fact they are challenging for the championship.
