What is going on at the Cleveland Cavaliers? They’ve been in a bit of a mess of late and will be pleased February is over after suffering 5 defeats in 12 games that month. Despite their recent bad run, the Cavs still top the Eastern Conference, as the rest of their rivals continue to falter in a stuttering division. Their opponents the Celtics have been improving steadily as we get to the business end of the season. All the way up to third position in the division, they won 9 of their 12 games in February and seem to coming good.
Much of that has to do with All-Star game hero Isaiah Thomas, who has led his team by example in scoring this season. He showed his quality in a March 2 win over the Portland Trail Blazers — scoring 30 points and helping his team to a 116-93 victory. He will be the danger man.
Meanwhile, LeBron James of the Cavs, who has had a mixed season, has been working on his fitness as he aims to improve his own form. He made the interesting decision of returning to Miami for his days off on March 1 and March 2 to work with a trainer, and old teammate Dwayne Wade. Could it be that LeBron will leave Cleveland again?
We doubt it. But the Cavs aren’t all about LeBron. They have Kevin Love who has been averaging 10.1 rebounds this season, as well as Kyrie Irving who is on a stead 19.1 point average. If those two click, LeBron could sit this one out.
It’s going to be a tough game for the suffering Cavs though, and we fully expect Boston to make this a game you won’t want to miss.
