It went DOWN during Mitt Romney’s speech on the 2016 presidential race March 3! The politician totally slammed Donald Trump while speaking to the public, and flat-out told American Republicans that the GOP frontrunner is the WRONG choice for their party. Watch the whole thing here!
Donald Trump is going to have a LOT to say about this. Mitt Romney gave a speech outlining his opinions on the upcoming election, and spent a majority of his time at the podium trashing Trump, and urging his party members to make sure the 69-year-old, who he called ‘dangerous’ and ‘not smart,’ doesn’t have a chance to represent the GOP in the polls later this year. Mitt didn’t waste much time getting into it. “Let me put it plainly, if we Republicans choose Donald Trump as our nominee, the prospects for a safe and prosperous future are greatly diminished,” he stated, before going into a list of reasons why. In fact, he’s so against Trump, he said that he’d prefer ANY of the three other candidates, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio or John Kasich as the party’s representative. After explaining why Donald’s policies would certainly NOT help the economy, he went into an issue that should definitely speak to the American people: Our country’s safety. “Trump’s bombast is already alarming our allies and fueling the enmity of our enemies,” Mitt explained. “Insulting all Muslims will keep many of them from fully engaging with us in the urgent fight against ISIS. And for what purpose?”
And he had specific examples, too. “What he said on 60 Minutes about Syria and ISIS has to go down as the most ridiculous and dangerous idea of campaign season: Let ISIS take out Assad, he said, and then we can pick up the remnants. Think about that: Let the most dangerous terrorist organization the world has ever known take over a country? That is recklessness in the extreme. Donald Trump tells us that he is very, very smart. I’m afraid that when it comes to foreign policy, he is very, very not smart.”
Another issue Mitt has a major problem with is Donald’s lack of honesty and his changing positions on several political issues. “There are a number of people who claim that Mr. Trump is a con man, a fake,” he said. “There is indeed evidence of that.” In his conclusion, Mitt told the crowd, “[Donald] is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.” Oh man, we can’t wait to see how Trump responds to this one!
