It was an all out battle against Donald Trump during the March 3 Republican debate when Donald admitted to hiring illegal aliens to work at his Palm Beach estate Mar-a-Lago during the high tourist seasons.
Donald Trump was having to defend himself from every angle. The real estate mogul and Republican frontrunner came under fire for on one hand slamming illegal aliens for living in the United States but to also admitting to hiring them to work at his lavish Palm Beach, Fl., hotel and beach club, Mar-a-Lago.
Here’s the issue, since 2010, approximately 300 United States residents have applied for jobs at Mar-a-Lago to be waiters, waitresses, cooks etc., according to The New York Times, and only 17 have been hired. Meanwhile, he has reportedly gotten over 500 visas for foreign workers since 2010, according to the United States Department of Labor. This is an issue because Donald has promised to bring by jobs to the United States, jobs that have been taken by illegal immigrants. Sadly, during the debate, Donald said that he’s legally allowed to do what he does and that it’s “hard” and “competitive” to get American workers. This coming from the same guy who said he wanted to build a “great wall” between the United States and Mexico and make them pay for it.
Donald has came under attack for his Trump Collection clothing line, which is manufactured in China and Mexico. Donald refused to say that he will start making his clothes in the United States and basically said it’s cheaper to make it overseas and then he danced around the issue. “They devalue their currencies,” Donald said. “I will do that [sell my clothes in the U.S.]. They devalue their currencies more and more, in particular China. Mexico is doing a big number there also. Japan, unbelievable what they’re doing. They devalue their currency and they made it impossible for clothing makers in this country to do clothing in this country and if you look at 7th Avenue and you look at New York, what’s happened with the Garment District. So much of the clothing comes out from Vietnam, China and other places and it’s all because of devaluation. By the way, Transpacific, if you look at the TPP [Trans-Pacific Partnership], it’s a disaster, which by the way, Marco is in favor of.”
