Though Big Ang tragically passed away from cancer on Feb. 18, at least the ‘Mob Wives’ star died doing what she loved best: living her life and being happy. After her lung surgery to combat the disease, Ang promised to ‘not take life for granted’ and enjoy every last minute she had.
Big Ang was larger than life, but even she knew she had to appreciate what time she had after she was diagnosed with cancer. After undergoing therapy to fight the disease, Ang promised to go big and live her life to the absolutely fullest!
“It was the scariest day of my life,” Ang said about her surgery on the March 2 episode of Mob Wives, according to the Daily Mail. Big Ang had part of her lung removed after she was first diagnosed with cancer. After Ang prayed that “they got all the cancer,” the doctors told her that the disease didn’t reach her lymph nodes. The news that Ang wouldn’t need chemotherapy left her overjoyed!
“I’m going to be very nice. I’m not going to take life for granted any more. I’m going to live the fullest,” Ang said. “I’m not going to be mean, or nasty or yell at anyone. I’m going to be very nice. I’m going to celebrate.”
Though Ang was told she was cancer free after surgery, the disease would return with a vengeance. Ang was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain and lung cancer. When she was told this, the Mob Wives star knew she didn’t have much time left. Sadly, her prediction came true and she passed away on Feb. 18. If there’s any silver lining to this dark cloud, Ang’s sister Janine Detoure revealed that Ang was “so at peace” during her final moments.
Even after death, Big Ang celebrated her time on earth. She wanted her loved ones to throw a “disco-themed” dance party for a wake, honoring her memory by smiling through the tears. Since Ang was a kind hearted and hilarious woman, a dance party wake makes total sense.
However, Ang’s funeral was a very sad affair. How could it not be? Big Ang will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. However, Ang can rest easily knowing that she still looked gorgeous during the funeral and that no one will soon forget Angela “Big Ang” Raiola anytime soon.
