Chris Rock always does a great job as host of the Oscars ceremony, but with a rocky show in 2016, HollywoodLife.com has learned EXCLUISVELY that producers have their eyes on another hilarious comedian: none other than Kevin Hart!
Well this would be one crazy Oscars twist! It turns out that Chris Rock, 51, really does have some competition in fellow funnyman Kevin Hart, 36, as the host of the Academy Awards. Chris joked in his opening monologue that he thought about dropping out from the role following the Oscar boycott controversy, but said the last thing he needed was to lose another job to Kevin. Whoopsie, that might actually happen now and HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE details why.
“The Academy definitely wants to skew a little younger and look a little more hip. And with ratings down yet again this year they are already thinking about the host next year. And Kevin is on their radar and the front runner to host next year and he would do it 100% if and when officially asked,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
In his opening monologue Feb. 28, Chris said about the Oscars boycott, “No one with a job ever tells you to quit. I thought about quitting, I thought about it really hard. But I realized, they’re going to have it anyway. They’re not going to cancel because I quit. And the last thing I need is to lose another job to Kevin Hart. Kevin makes movies fast… porno stars don’t make movies that fast.” YIKES! Get Kevin’s amazing stand-up special Let Me Explain by clicking here.
Me & Dave Chappelle with our brother @chrisrock tonight at the Oscars. True professionals understand the importance of sticking together & supporting one another….at the end of the day we are comedians & there aren't many that make it to level that we have made it. But so many doors are opened from the success of one comedian & when you see those doors open you then have the opportunity to walk thru them….it's about helping one another not trying to tear each other down!!!! The insecure ones will never understand that "Support & encouragement" #Message #DopePic #Legendary
Kevin clearly has the social media interest of a lot more fans, as a photo he posted from the Academy Awards featuring Chris and comedian Dave Chapelle, 42, was the second most “liked” photo on Instragram on Oscar night. In it, Kevin wrote “Me & Dave Chappelle with our brother @chrisrock tonight at the Oscars.”
“True professionals understand the importance of sticking together & supporting one another….at the end of the day we are comedians & there aren’t many that make it to level that we have made it,” he included in the caption. Uh-oh, it sounds like there’s no way he’d want to steal a job from his pal, so it looks like there may be trouble ahead if Chris still wants the hosting gig in 2017!
HollywoodLifers, would you rather see Kevin host the Oscars instead of Chris?
