Shots fired, again! Iggy Azalea unleashed a fury of hate about Azealia Banks in her latest interview with ‘ELLE Canada’ and said that she’s disliked Iggy for years and their latest Twitter battle has nothing to do with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
Iggy Azalea is not holding back. The rapper addressed her feud with Azealia Banks in her new cover story with ELLE Canada and said that their “emotionally charged” Twitter feud was “misconstrued” because it had nothing to do with the Black Live Matter movement, it just had everything to do with the fact that she doesn’t like Azealia.
“If I could, I would Men in Black memory-erase 2015, I totally would… I think the Azealia Banks thing is what really started it all,” she told the magazine. “We don’t like each other on a personal level, and that has gone on for many years — before the Black Lives Matter incident happened. So when I dismissed her, people started to think that I dismissed the whole movement, but I wasn’t trying to dismiss Black Lives Matter — I was trying to dismiss her because it’s our personal shit. I don’t think the subject matter of her tweet was invalid; I just think it was emotionally charged and driven by something else, and the whole thing got so misconstrued. I just wish I had acknowledged the issue head-on because it made people think I don’t care about what’s going on socially and what’s happening in America, and I do care. Even though I still hate Azealia Banks, I wish I had said it in a way that didn’t make people think I was oblivious to the movement. And I wish I hadn’t gotten into a fight with Papa John’s!”
Here’s the fight she’s referring to, in December of 2015 Azealia went on New York’s Hot 97 and said that Iggy was ripping off other rappers like Nicki Minaj. That’s when Iggy slammed her on Twitter and said: “Special msg for banks: There are many black artists succeeding in all genres. The reason you haven’t is because of your piss poor attitude,” she tweeted. “Now! rant, Make it racial! make it political! Make it whatever but I guarantee it won’t make you likable & THATS why ur crying on the radio.”
