Now that Super Tuesday has come and gone, it seems like Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz is the only man who can stop Donald Trump from officially becoming the GOP’s nominee. At least, that is, according to Ted. Find out what he now has to do to beat Mr. Trump.
Following his Super Tuesday loss on March 1, Senator Ted Cruz revealed what the Republican Party needs to do to give him the best chance at defeating Donald Trump. In fact, he said he’s the party’s only hope for stopping Mr. Trump.
“After tonight, we have seen that our campaign is the only campaign that has beaten, that can beat, and that will beat Donald Trump,” Cruz said after winning Texas and Oklahoma but losing several other states, according to Vox. “We are the only campaign that has beaten Donald Trump once, twice, three times. Fifteen states have now voted. Every one of those states so far has been won by either Donald Trump or myself.”
Ted didn’t name him specifically, but he appeared to suggest that Marco Rubio should drop out of the race.
“Tomorrow morning, we have a choice. So long as the field remains divided, Donald Trump’s path to the nomination remains more likely. And that would be a disaster for Republicans,” he said during he speech to his supporters. “For the candidates who have not yet won a state, who have not racked up significant delegates: I ask you to prayerfully consider our coming together.”
For the record, even though Rubio didn’t win any states on Super Tuesday, he did come ahead of Cruz in some. So there you have it, folks. It seems like Ted’s only chance at beating Donald Trump is if all the other candidates drop out. Ben Carson actually dropped out, following Super Tuesday.
Thus far, Donald Trump has 319 delegates, while Ted has 226. Each candidate needs 1,237 to win the nomination.
