What the heck is going on here? Speaker of the House Paul Ryan shared a quote from the most unlikely person ever on Feb. 24: Kanye West! The tweet is clearly meant to push his economic agenda, but we’re shocked these two could agree on anything! See the political message, here.
This is bizarre. Kanye West, 38, has found an unlikely ally. While most people are mocking his over-the-top Twitter rants, Paul Ryan, 46, is supporting them! On Feb. 24, he quoted one of Kanye’s tweets about economics to support his own agenda, and people are losing it over how weird the pairing is. See the hilarious responses, here.
Paul hand-picked one quote from Kanye’s Feb. 24 rant to not only share, but pin to the top of his Twitter feed. Paul shared Kanye’s message “What is your definition of true freedom? There is no true freedom without economic freedom,” and added the sentiment “good point.” The message is meant to push Paul’s own economic agenda, which is strong capitalism with less taxes. Kanye, on the other hand, was talking about being in intense debt ($53 million, apparently) while trying to make his dream come true.
Fans on Twitter are calling Paul’s response to Kanye’s tweet an attempt to relate to younger voters and get them on his side. This lead to tons of hilarious memes about older people trying to fit in with the “kids”, and it’s absolutely hilarious. On the other hand, some people are just confused. Many think Paul missed Kanye’s point altogether, and that they wouldn’t really agree if they talked it out. See all of the best tweets, here:
