Whether sporting a platinum blonde wig like she did at New York Fashion Week or sticking to her signature dark locks, Kim has been spotted with pigtail braids of every style over the past several months. The boxer braids (or reverse French braids) she loves so much have finally made their big debut on her site, and with a little practice, you can master the look in no time.
Mane Addicts Editorial Director and Hairstylist, Justine Marjan, helps Kim get the sleek braid style in the video, using a rat tail comb to divide Kim’s hair into four equal sections. Clipping each section off, Justine works with the end section first, creating a reverse French braid (braiding the strands under, instead of over). Justine braids in some extensions for extra bulk, but you don’t have to do this.
For extra grip while braiding, as well as to create a clean, sleek braid, Justine uses Gorilla Snot Gel as she braids. Once she reaches the nape of the neck, she clips off the section and starts the whole process over on the other three sections of hair. To finish, Justine goes back and creates a traditional three-strand braid with the two sections on either side of Kim’s head and uses a black hair elastic to secure the look. To conceal any partings that may look off, Justine goes in with the Color Wow Root Cover Up in the darkest shade that matches Kim’s hair color.
Have you tried the reverse French braids yet, HollywoodLifers? What do you think of the look?
