The fantasy suites always cause quite the stir and a ton of emotions — but this season’s is like none other. Ben actually told two of the three finalists that he loved them!
Did Ben Higgins spend the night with Lauren B., Caila and/or JoJo? Which two did he say the L-word to? And of course, who did he send home? Luckily, we live blogged the full three-to-two episode of The Bachelor, and all questions were answered (with video!). And the fantasy began in Jamaica.
The first date went to Caila, who was super awkward and quiet during their ride down the river, and it was probably the most uncomfortable three minutes ever; she was freaking out because she wanted to say “I love you,” but wanted to talk more without ruining the mood. So basically she wanted to have a serious talk but not ruin the day with a serious talk. However, after the sunset she finally told him that this, unlike any relationship she ever had, felt right — and that she was in love with him. And with that, they’re in their bathing suits, in the water, under the fireworks; then in bed. She was convinced he loved her too — and could “feel it in his breath.”
Next up, was Lauren B., who he actually said that when he saw her was the closest he’d ever felt to love at first sight. For their date, they set adorable sea turtles free, he told her he thought she was too good for him, and basically they were perfect. They basically looked like Barbie and Ken making out in the ocean under a double rainbow (duh!). She later called him the man of her dreams, and to the fantasy suite they went. While there, she finally told him she loved him! And yup, he said it back. We saw it in the preview, but we still freaked out. He actually said it multiple times, so she pretty much thinks she’s a shoe in (she is right?).
So, it was time for JoJo. How do you follow up that date? Well, with a helicopter ride to a waterfall. They jumped in and it was seriously stunning (as was JoJo’s key bikini). JoJo, unlike the rest of the girls, came right out and told him that she loved him and never wanted to lose him. After a little pause, he said, “JoJo, I love you too” — and she was seriously shocked. She literally asked him if he was allowed to say that (we were wondering that, too; he said “no I’m not.”). During dinner, she reassured him about her crazy overprotective brothers and with that, they went to the fantasy suite. P.S., it’s totally OK that Ben said “I love you” to both girls.
Uh, What About Caila?
So Ben was now stuck in a not-so-great place — he was in love with two and had to say goodbye to Caila, who he really did like. Meanwhile, she really missed him so she excitedly decided to surprise him, and well, surprised he was. However, it gave him a chance to be honest with her. So, that’s what he did: he told her he was in love with two girls there, but couldn’t say it to her. I’m not sure it was necessary for him to tell her he was in love with two other women, but at the end of the day, we have to give him props for being real and upfront with her and not dragging her along to the rose ceremony.
However, after she got into the car, she got back out and wanted answers: how long did he know? He told her that it wasn’t until this week that any of the girls said how they felt. I want to give her serious shout out for being so brave to do so because as we’ve seen over and over again, the women have so many questions after. So it was nice that she got her closure, and seriously said goodbye in the most mature way ever.
And off she went — just like that, there were two. Next week, Women Tell All will air, and the finale of The Bachelor is on March 14.
