It’s his biggest rival in the Best Actor category at the 88th Academy Awards happening on Feb. 28, but that hasn’t stopped Eddie Redmayne graciously admitting that Leo DiCaprio should win instead of him! Click here to see what the Oscar-winner said!
Even the competition agrees! Leonardo DiCaprio, 41, is a front-runner in the Best Actor category at this year’s Academy Awards, and now Eddie Redmayne, 34, has revealed that he’s rooting for The Revenant actor to come out on top in 2016.
Asked if he felt that it was Leo’s year, Eddie told Us, “I think it’s pretty much certainly is. The film is great, and it’s so well deserved.”
Eddie is now becoming a regular at the Oscars, having appeared in other Academy Awards nominated movies such as My Week With Marilyn and Les Misérables. But he still accepts it’s surprising for him every year he attends the ceremony.
“It’s impossible to get your head around what this circus is,” he told Us. “But it’s so much fun to be a part of, and you try just to kind of, really just sort of pinch yourself and take stock of all the memories, so that in years from now, you look back on it and try to really work out what it all was.”
Leo has been previously nominated 5-times in the Best Actor category, but has always ended up empty-handed at the end of the night. So maybe Eddie is right and this is his time! We’ll have to wait and see!
