After being marked at the end of last week’s ‘Vampire Diaries,’ Stefan needed to getaway — and where else, but New Orleans?!
Naturally, Stefan (Paul Wesley) received help from Valerie in order to find a safe place, a place he could get away from Rayna. That also meant he had to be away from Caroline (Candace King), again. So, he was sent to New Orleans to the bar that was sired by magic — a place Rayna could not track.

When he arrived, it was just minutes before Klaus saw him, gave him a shot, and well… asked about Caroline. Klaus actually made a good point to Stefan about her — the Caroline he knew wasn’t about to just hand over babies to Alaric, regardless if they were hers or not. (Of course Klaus knew Caroline better than Stefan did!) Anyway, he ended up kicking Stefan out of the bar when finding out about his Phoenix mark, since it would put them all at risk. However, Stefan left his phone, Caroline called, and yes, Klaus answered.
The phone call between Caroline and Klaus was pretty much perfect. He gave her tips on parenting — even offering pass me down clothes from his little one; he promised he’d keep Stefan safe; and then told her how sorry he was about her mother, and how much she would love to see her as a mother. And with that, the babies Caroline was watching — she went to Dallas with Alaric to help out — finally stopped crying.
After that, Klaus knew he had to save Stefan, so he went and did just that, moments before Rayna killed him. Klaus decided to take Stefan away, and also told Stefan to let Caroline go if he was going to continue protecting Damon over her. Oh yeah, and when Stefan asked Klaus if he still has feelings for her, he answers, “I have far too many complicated women in my life already.”
We also got an epic Bamon moment, when she cut off Enzo’s hand and threw herself at a werewolf — namely Tyler, just to save Damon’s life. Since Enzo had taken away her magic, Damon’s blood couldn’t heal her right away and she ended up in the hospital. Naturally, Damon stayed by her side and told her sleeping self that she nor Stefan could keep putting their lives at risk for him so he would take himself “out of the equation.”
And On ‘The Originals’
Klaus took Stefan to his sister, Freya, who placed paste on his “X” that would temporarily divert Rayna. So, off he went? Well not so fast — Klaus’ sire line was at risk of being broken, and well, Stefan couldn’t let that happen: Caroline and Damon, as well as himself, are on that sire line. So he joined his side, along with Hayley (Paul’s real life GF, Phoebe Tonkin).
And with that, he helped save him — after he had saved him. So, full circle right? Well, Klaus just hopes Stefan will “do the right thing by her.” And with that, Stefan promises to him that he will. In return, Stefan gives him some advice as well: do right by Hayley.
