It was a surprise to many to see Manchester United lose their first leg to FC Midtjylland, especially after going a goal up. But at Old Trafford the Red Devils are a different proposition, and will be looking to save face for their poor performance in Denmark by making things right in their last 32 Europa League match. Can they succeed? Click down for the live stream!
Manchester United fans have been gravely concerned this season that they might end up without a trophy for the third season in a row! Effectively out of the Premier League title race, dumped out of the Champions League, and with a tough FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham on the horizon, United will want to appease fans by winning the Europa League, and by possibly signing Neymar who it was believed they had put in an unsuccessful bid for last summer.
However, as they found out in the first leg against FC Midtjylland they can’t take their opposition for granted. They may be minnows, but they will play with plenty of heart in defending their slender 2-1 lead from the first game. How they could do with former United star and Kendall Jenner possible future boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo now?!
United’s injury problems have flared up again, with first choice goalkeeper David De Gea missing his third game in a row with a knee injury. Striker Wayne Rooney is a long-term absentee, and isn’t expected to return for another 5 weeks. Marouane Fellaini and defender Matteo Darmian are also missing in action.
For FC Midtjylland the omens aren’t great. They’ve lost their last two european games, without scoring a goal while conceding 6 in the process. This is the first time in their history they’ve reached the knockout stages of any European competition.
It’s impossible not to see United walking this, but with the added pressure of knowing they are behind they will have to put in lots of effort to break down their stubborn opponents. This game could be far more complex than the FIFA Presidential Election.
HollywoodLifers, do you think United will turn it around and advance into the last 16? Or is there an upset on the cards? Sound off to us below!
