Thanks to Brie Larson’s incredible performance in ‘Room,’ 2016 has already been a huge year for the actress. But it might become even bigger on Feb. 28, when she could be awarded the Oscar for Best Actress! Get to know Brie right here!
Brie Larson is winning the hearts of critics and movie lovers alike with her starring role in ‘Room,’ but the 26-year-old actress is still a new face to many. With a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Critics Choice Award to her name, she now awaits her Oscars fate as the Feb. 28 ceremony approaches. Want to find out more about the Best Actress nominee? Let us help!
1. She’s been around a lot longer than you might think!
Room may be her breakthrough performance, but it’s certainly not her breakout. While you may recognize her as Amy Schumer‘s sister in Trainwreck, she has had roles in 21 Jump Street, Sleepover, Don Jon, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and United States of Tara too! Oh, and remember the Disney Channel Original Movie Right On Track? Yep, she was Beverly Mitchell‘s sister!
2. She doesn’t just act — she can sing too!
Before she began landing bigger gigs as an actress, Brie was a pop singer. She released one album, Finally Out Of P.E., in 2005, and you may know her song “She Said.” She even found that song along with one other of her tunes on a karaoke list and couldn’t help mocking it!
3. Jacob Tremblay is her favorite person.
Brie loves posting pics and videos of her Room costar on her Instagram, even making some Tuesdays #TremblayTuesday in honor of him. She has often referred to him as her “favorite person ever,” and considering how adorable he is, can you blame her? Case in point: This is what he sent Brie on her birthday…

4. She loves her boyfriend, but doesn’t want her relationship in the spotlight.
Brie has been dating Phantom Planet lead singer Alex Greenwald for a while, and she made sure to declare she loves him in her SAG Awards speech. But when it comes to flaunting their relationship in public, she’s not about that life! In fact, she’s very private about most aspects of her life — even though Room is starting to make her a household name!
5. If she wins the Oscar, it will be her 18th Best Actress award for Room.
Brie has been receiving SO much critical acclaim for her Room role, and the Oscar would be the cherry on top. Considering she took home the hardware at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, we’d say her chances seem to be pretty good!
Do you hope Brie takes home the Oscar for her “Room” performance, HollywoodLifers?
