This is so sweet! While his wife, Joey, struggles with terminal cancer, Rory Feek published a precious throwback vid of happier, healthier times with their baby daughter, Indiana. Watch the touching footage here!
Rory Feek, 50, certainly knows how to give us the feels. In a blast-from-the-past video he posted on Feb. 23, his now terminally ill wife, Joey Feek, 40, and their two year-old daughter, Indiana is seen having the time of her life on a Hawaiian vacation the fam took back in 2015 — almost exactly a year ago. Watch his heartwarming creation of their “magical” memories below — but don’t forget the tissues!
“For two weeks, we didn’t just walk down memory lane … we made incredible memories that will last a lifetime,” Rory reflected on Feb. 23 after taking to Facebook to reminisce about his family’s tropical trip, which was taken in honor of his 50th birthday. In the video, which was originally published in a blog post, Joey laughs with Indiana, walks on the beach, watches the sunset, and sings “Happy Birthday” to her husband. It doesn’t get much more beautiful than that. In fact, Rory even gushed that the trip was “magical.”
Rory also recalled that this adventure was actually the family’s, “favorite vacation” they’ve “ever taken,” and it’s easy to see why. In the video, the couple is seen hiking together along with Rory’s two older daughters as they enjoy the island and share many laughs. At one point Joey even dips little Indiana’s toes into the ocean — so precious! “We walked beaches, hiked craters, caught waves, climbed volcanos, road catamaran’s, drank mai-tai’s and even blew out a few candles together,” Rory revealed in his original blog post from March 2015. “There was no music, no plan, no rush … just us all being together as a family. I loved it.” Aw!
Sharing such a personal video with fans is an extremely heartfelt way for Rory to show how much he cares for his wife. After all, the family can no longer travel together since Joey has been bedridden since November. “What a difference a year makes,” Rory added on his Facebook page. “The only thing that’s changed is everything. And nothing.”
Joey was tragically diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and then halted all treatments in Oct. 2015 after her chemotherapy was deemed ineffective. This past Nov., she entered hospice care at her home in Indiana, where she’s been spending her final moments surrounded by family and friends. Our hearts continue to go out to the Feek family during this extremely difficult time.
