Kesha has another A-lister in her corner. Adele gave the singer a shoutout while accepting a trophy at the Brit Awards on Feb. 24, and publicly revealed that she’s supporting her in her lawsuit against Sony and Dr. Luke. So incredible!
Adele, 27, just did something truly amazing. The “Hello” singer had a big moment at the 2016 Brit Awards on Feb. 24, but rather than making the whole thing about herself, she decided to use the platform to reveal she’s firmly standing behind Kesha during her troubling time. Watch her speech here!
After accepting the British Female Solo Artist award from Louis Tomlinson, 24, and Liam Payne, 23, Adele gave a brief speech, and closed her thank you’s by adding, “I’d like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha.” In case you haven’t been following, a judge ruled that Kesha is not able to break her contract with Sony, even though her alleged rapist, Dr. Luke, works for the music company. Of course, Adele isn’t the only star to support Kesha in a big way. Taylor Swift, 26, hasn’t publicly commented on the situation, but she did donate $250,000 to the 28-year-old to help with any of her finances during this “trying time.” Demi Lovato, 23, caused some drama by being vocal about her dismay toward Tay donating money rather than taking action, but she’s since apologized and made it clear that she is here to use her voice against sexual abuse.
“I am beyond words in gratitude,” Kesha wrote on Instagram Feb. 23. “Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. A million times over and forever thank you. The support I have received has left my face swollen from tears. I love you all so much.” We bet she’s happy to have Adele in her corner, too!
