Hillary Clinton, 68, is riding high off of her recent Nev. Caucus victory, but Democratic presidential opponent Bernie Sanders, 74, is staying in the fight. Hil is looking for a sweeping victory in South Carolina’s upcoming primary and both candidates are hoping to sway the electorate during their Feb. 23 Town Hall meeting. Keep reading for how you can watch it LIVE!
Hillary did well with African-American voters in Nev. and she’s hoping to so the same in South Carolina, as over half of the state’s electorate is black. We should be expecting plenty of questions for both candidates on the state of race relations, and Bernie will get another chance to talk about his prison reform stance, especially when it comes down to the rate of incarcerated people of color. However, Bernie seems to know the state is a lost cause for him, with Hillary having strong support across the southern states. Even in his concession speech in Nev. Feb. 20, he neglected to even mention the S.C. primary, ending his statements by declaring “on to Super Tuesday.”
The former Secretary of State holds a commanding 20 point lead in the Palmetto state, and she’s hoping a crushing victory over the Vermont Senator will give her strong momentum heading into the March 1 Super Tuesday primaries, where Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia will vote, with 1,004 delegates up for grabs. That’s just under half of the 2,383 needed to secure the official Democratic nomination. Hillary needs a commanding sweep that day to secure her status as the undisputed frontrunner.
