Stars are appalled by the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, but what about the host of the big event? Chris Rock isn’t shirking his responsibility to give viewers a great show, but will he also include the issue of diversity? Find out EXCLUSIVELY at HollywoodLife.com.
Chris Rock, 51, hasn’t joined other African-American actors in boycotting the Academy Awards, instead opting to follow though with hosting the big event despite the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. So, will he ignore the issue altogether on Feb. 28, or will he work it into his monologue? HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE answer, here.
Chris has been hard at work getting his monologue ready for Feb. 28 when he takes the stage to host the Academy Awards. He’s going to give a great show, but he’s definitely not ignoring the huge issue of diversity that’s being spoken out about by several African-American stars. “Chris has many plans to address the #OscarsSoWhite controversy and his current jokes are going to gear political,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
So how will Chris poke fun at such a serious situation? “He is going to compare the Oscars voting to the Republicans,” the source continues EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com. However, don’t expect it to be the focus of the show. “Once he addresses it he is going to move on and not harp on it.”

His piece for the Oscars is a living animal, it’s going to keep morphing as details emerge up until the big day. “Plus his monologue is not set yet and he will be writing jokes up until the broadcast,” the source explained EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com. “He wants it to be as topical as possible, so there will be jokes being written until the Best Picture is announced.” Who knows what could happen by then?! We can’t wait to see what Chris has to say.
