Fellow celebs are rallying around Kesha following the devastating legal blow she was hit with Feb. 19, where a judge refused to nullify her six album deal with Sony Music. They’re all standing behind her right to freely make music, so read on for what they had to say.
How tragic! Kesha, 28, is in tears over a judges’s decision to make her stay with Sony Music, somewhere she’s desperately tried to break free of to get away from her alleged tormentor, super producer Dr. Luke. Now the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Lorde and other female singers are rallying behind her with messages of support and love.
We really have to feel for Kesha, as her career has pretty much been silenced following the order for her to remain in her six-album contract for Sony Music, at which Dr. Luke is a valuable star. She feels that even working with other producers, the company won’t promote her music or give her hits. So she either stays with the label knowing that they probably have Luke’s back, or she would have to make music on her own dime since she can’t sign with another label who might give her more of a chance.
This isn’t sitting well with numerous female singers, especially the reason this mess came about is because in 2014, Kesha sued Dr. Luke for sexually assaulting her, thus ending their hit-making partnership. Many stars are bringing up how wrong it is to have work with someone who may have hurt the “Tik Tok’ singer. Her fellow artists are also feeling for Kesha in that the ruling is silencing her creativity and freedom to put out new work. See what the talented ladies had to say:
Trying 2 not say anything since I can't say anything nice about a person… so this is me not talking about Dr. Luke https://t.co/lLhtUHbmgG

If two people dont want to be in business with one another it seems very cruel for one to hold the other in a contract.

Im not accusing anyone of anything, but i believe Kesha deserves the ability to move forward, create and earn a living.

standing with @KeshaRose through this traumatic, deeply unfair time. send good vibes her way everyone
— Lorde (@lorde) February 19, 2016
really disappointing to hear about this kesha case. no one should be denied freedom from their abuser, nor freedom of their creativity.

If you don't see why this Kesha issue is a big deal, you're part of the problem. This is exactly why I speak up the way I do #FreeKesha

I don't know all the facts, of course, but the bottom line is: it is a terrible feeling to not own your voice/ be able to release music.

Keep your chin up Kesha, hopefully you’ll one day get through this legal mess and go back to doing what you do best – making great music and touring in support of it!
HollywoodLifers, tell us what you think about Kesha’s situation. Should Sony just let her go so she can move on with her musical career?
