Check out our full interview with eliminated cast-off, Darnell, HERE:
What was it like watching the episode nearly a YEAR after you filmed it?
It was so crazy! When you’re part of a show…when you see yourself on TV, it’s a surreal moment. You’re like…you can’t believe it. I’m watching myself on TV! It was crazy.
Do you think your fate would’ve been different if not for the split second you dropped the mask?
Of course. I think we would’ve won the challenge and I wouldn’t have been the first one voted out. I think I still would’ve been on the chopping block if we lost, but it sealed my fate.
Besides the goggle drop, is there anything else you think you could’ve done differently? Do you have any regrets?
I don’t regret anything. It was just the way the ball moves. You have to move with it. You never know what’s going on, you don’t know what’s going on — who’s making alliances. You just go on instinct. I don’t think there’s anything else I could have done.
What surprised you the most when you watched back?
That they put my aqua-dump on there! I kinda forgot about that so I was like, “Oh….”
What was your plan in term of alliances and game play if you hadn’t been voted out so soon?
I think I would’ve tried to get Jen in and try to vote either Jason or Scot out. That would’ve been the plan. I personally would’ve wanted to get Jason out because I felt he was a big threat and he was making too many alliances. It was just too much.
What do you think your biggest strength was that we didn’t get to see?
I know the game. A lot of people don’t know that I know the game, they don’t think I really know the show.
Who from your tribe stood out to you as a big player that everyone else should look out for?
Jason, without a doubt came out strong. Jen is really good — she knows the game. Those are the two standouts to me.
Would you ever play again?
Absolutely! It was a redemption thing for me. You go through all these elements, but it’s just an addiction. It’s just a great situation to be in.
What were the conditions really like out there?
I got sunburnt. I’ve never been sunburnt a day in my life! It was so hot and humid. They didn’t show it, but we didn’t have water for three days. It rained only on the first day so we were only drinking coconut water. The first challenge, we were so tired. I was so proud that we fought knowing how much we were suffering and the fact that we didn’t have any of this stuff, we were still in it. If it wasn’t for me [dropping the mask], you don’t know what happens as far as the idol situation, but we were in a great position. It was really hot and the bugs were terrible. We had bugs on the ground and bugs all over.
Who are you rooting for?
I’m rooting for…someone on my tribe. They got rid of me, but I’m still rooting for them!
HollywoodLifers, were you shocked that Darnell went home first? Do you think it should’ve been Alecia instead?
