After a long battle with lung and throat cancer, Big Ang passed away on Feb. 18. She was surrounded by her family and friends when she died. The news of Big Ang’s death has devastated her Mob Wives family. Carla released this statement EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com: “All I can say is she was bigger than life and I will truly miss her! All our hearts are broken but I know she will rule the gates of heaven the Big Ang way. May she rest in peace.”
Shortly after hearing the news of her passing, many of co-stars mourned her death on social media. See their messages below.

A statement on Big Ang’s Twitter account confirmed her death, following earlier false reports of her passing. “It is with sad regret that we inform you that at 3:01 a.m. Angelia Raiola peacefully ended her battle with cancer, and was called home,” Vinnie Medugno posted on Big Ang’s Twitter. She was surrounded by nothing but love from her immediate family, and the closest friends. YOU, (her fans) were some of the most special people in the world, and she loved you immensely. Thank you for your love, prayers, and unconditional support of Angela right to the very end.”
After thinking she had beat the terrible disease, Big Ang learned in Dec. 2015 that it had returned. Less than two months later, on Feb. 3, Big Ang was hospitalized as her cancer reached stage 4 and none of her chemotherapy treatments were helping the situation. Her sister Janine Detore created a GoFundMe page to raise money for alternative treatments like medical marijuana. Unfortunately, despite all of the efforts of her loved ones, she lost her battle on Feb. 18. Our thoughts and prayers are with Big Ang’s friends and family in this difficult time.
