I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Big Ang multiple times over the past several years. I interviewed her for HollywoodLife.com, she appeared on my VH1 TV show ‘The Gossip Table,’ and I’ve gotten to know some of her friends. Everyone always says the same thing, Big Ang was a happy, lovable and genuine woman.
Big Ang‘s laugh was contagious. When she walked in a room, she let everyone know, Big Ang had arrived. But who you saw on VH1’s Mob Wives, was exactly who Big Ang was in real life. A down to earth, devoted mother who would do anything for her family and friends.
Whenever Big Ang came to HollywoodLife.com she was always in a good mood. The last time she stopped by our offices, she had just been diagnosed with cancer but you wouldn’t know it. She carried on about her kids, her life, Staten Island and the show. She wasn’t like other reality stars who seemed to only care about you if you could give her something in return. She really took the time to talk to you, remembered your name and always made you laugh.
I spoke with her co-star Carla Facciolo who told me just a few hours after Big Ang’s death: “All I can say is She was bigger than life and I will truly miss her! All our hearts are broken but I know she will rule the gates of heaven the Big Ang way … May she rest in peace.” We also spoke to Mob Wives creator, Jennifer Graziano who told us: “I am saddened to say that At 3:01 am Ang lost her battle with cancer,” Jennifer told us. “She passed peacefully surrounded by friends and family. My heart is broken for her whole family – especially her children and grandchildren and I will never forget her. Her presence brought sheer happiness to anyone that was around her and I am honored to have called her a friend. Please respect her family’s privacy at this time as they mourn the loss of such an amazing woman.”
It’s all true, Big Ang was a kind, funny good hearted woman. May she rest in peace and never be forgotten.
HollywoodLifers, our thoughts go out to Big Ang’s family and friends.
