It’s round two for the “Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty’ game on ‘Survivor’ — but who will come out on top this time?
Jeff Probst is back at it for yet another season of Survivor, and the 90-minute premiere started with each tribe had to work together to get as many supplies off the main ship as possible. The best part of this was Big Brother turned Survivor Caleb, jumping after a loose chicken in the water and just palming it to capture it. So, let’s get to the tribes.
“We’re not beautiful, we’re not strong, but we are strong… I’m not very good at counting.” Scot‘s comments pretty much sums up the brawn team! Immediately everyone assumed Alecia AKA “blondie” couldn’t do much since she’s the smallest on the tribe, and Scot and Kyle quickly aligned. However, it was Jen that was in serious pain — a worm crawled into her ear and she could literally hear and feel it walking around. Luckily it crawled out on its own after a day, but seriously — props to that girl! IT WAS DISGUSTING.
The brains tribe includes quite the characters and an alliance quickly formed between the “young” ones: Peter AKA Pres. Obama’s doppelgänger; ice cream maker Neal who in my mind IS Oliver Hudson; Liz and Aubrey. That would go up against the “old” ones: I can do anything and I’m always right, Debbie; and 72-year-old Joe, who by the way is in amazing shape. However, Aubrey started burning up, and completely broke down — on day two.
Beauty is not exactly what you’d expect — but it’s pretty beautiful. While the girls — Michele, Julia, and Anna seemed to first team up against the guys — Caleb, Nick and Tai, it was pretty clear that Tai later became the outsider. The Vietnam vet actually got caught looking for the an idol on day two.
The First Challenge
Jeff did not take it easy on the tribes — it was a tough first challenge with swimming, building, and of course, puzzles. All three tribes showed their strengths at different things, but it was Brains who pulled out the first place W; Beauty, who had a huge lead in the beginning went into the puzzle last, but actually got second; that put the Brawn tribe in last, and they headed to jury.
Alecia and Darnell both messed up during the challenge, so it came down to them — and they both made their cases at tribal: Alecia said she was “a mental giant.” Darnell’s defense mechanism was crying over his past. The votes ended up in a tie of three votes Darnell, three votes Alecia. So they voted again — and out went Darnell. The empathy thing doesn’t work on week one, bro.
So, do you love this season of Survivor already?
