Jake Pavelka is breaking his silence on the death of Lex McAllister, a contestant he eliminated on Season 14 of ‘The Bachelor.’ Even though he didn’t get to know her well, Jake had nothing but sweet things to say about Lex, and took to Twitter to comment on the tragic news of her passing.
We are absolutely devastated by the news of Lex McAllister’s death, and understandably, so is Jake Pavelka. The reality star briefly got to know Lex when she was a contestant on his season of The Bachelor, and he tweeted his condolences to her family after learning of the sad news on Feb. 16.
“I’m so sad to hear about Alexa,” he tweeted. “Such a beautiful girl. My heart breaks for her family. Covering them in prayer during this rough time.” Jake only got to know Lex briefly — he eliminated her on the very first episode of his season of The Bachelor back in 2010 — but we can imagine that this must be hitting him, and other Season 14 contestants, very hard. Lex was found unconscious on Feb. 13 after allegedly overdosing on prescription pills, with officials and family members believing that taking the medication was a suicide attempt. The gorgeous blonde was conscious as she was transported to the hospital, but tragically, her organs began shutting down, and she soon became brain dead. Her family took her off life support on Feb. 16, and she was just 31 years old.
Sadly, Lex isn’t the first contestant from Jake’s season to pass unexpectedly — Gia Allemand tragically died after hanging herself in 2013. “I am in complete shock and devastated to hear the news about Gia,” Jake said in a statement at the time. “She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. And a very dear friend. My heart goes out to her family during this very difficult time. We have lost an angel today.” So sad.
