‘Younger’ has made me laugh and cry over the past season and a half — but mourning someone? I did not see a death coming. We caught up with Hilary Duff during New York Fashion Week and she teased a deadly cliffhanger that’s coming.
Up until now, Younger has pretty much stuck to comedy, mixed in with some romance; however, we haven’t lost anyone major yet and we really didn’t want to . Every character — yes, even Diana Trout — plays such a vital part in the storyline that we don’t want to think of anyone dying! Well, we better start — we’ll be saying goodbye sooner rather than later.
“A big thing happens for my character towards the end, which is a good surprise for her personal life,” Hilary told us on Feb. 14 at the Jenny Packham show during New York Fashion Week. Naturally, we asked if it’s something romantic, to which she said “yeah yeah.” (An engagement maybe? We’ll have to wait.)
However, she then revealed that “someone possibly might pass away” — and yes, it will be shocking. “It’s great, it kind of comes out of nowhere. It’s great because we’re a comedy, but we’re a dramedy. When we were reading the script and we were all at the table reading it we were like ‘WHAT?!'”
So, will that change the way the characters interact — we’ll have to wait for season three to see. “We won’t find out until next season,” she said. “The show is so much fun to work on, and honestly, the writers surprise us every single week with what we’re doing. We never know in advance, all the twists and turns.” The finale of this season is set for March 23, and titled No Weddings & a Funeral.
Last but definitely not least, HilDuff shared a little but about Glee‘s Matthew Morrison, who will be guest starring later this season. Matthew has a really amazing role on the show and does something super shocking . . . like I can’t believe they’re gonna let us put it on TV.”
Ok, now we really can’t wait. Tune in to Younger every Wednesday at 10PM!
