And here we go! We’re in Ben’s hometown of Warsaw, Indiana. I am so ready. This place means a lot to him, so it’s important the ladies fit into Ben’s life. Ben shows up at a local diner and hugs his parents. Aw! He’s such a good son. He wants to get them up to date on his life. Oh boy…
The girls get themselves acquainted to his hometown, and they’re really gunning to make it to next week so they can get the hometown date. Emily says she would immediately start “making babies” with Ben if she lived in Warsaw. Okay, girl. Let’s take it down a notch.
Lauren B. really wants to talk to Ben. She feels uneasy about their relationship after last week. She seems really tense. Actually, all of the girls seem tense. It’s getting so real. Real feelings, real heartbreak. JoJo worries she’s going to put her guard up around Ben again. “I can’t just forget about him and Lauren B.’s connection because it’s just so clear,” she says.
Ben Proves He’s A Perfect Human
It’s one-on-one time! Ben takes Lauren B. around town. There’s no rose on the date, so it’s actually just a real date. He’s giving off such high school heartthrob vibes. Former quarterback driving around in a red pickup truck? SWOON. They end up at Baker Youth Club. It’s a really special place for Ben. When he walks in, “Big Ben” is welcomed home. I can’t. Ben is literally the best person. Just seeing him hang out with these kids? Adorable! Oh, and then Paul George and George Hill show up.
Lauren and Ben have such a fun time. And Lauren’s a hit with the kids. Then Ben proves he’s an angel sent from the high heavens. He consoles a crying kid on the sideline. Is anyone else crying, or is it just me? “He’s going to make an amazing dad,” Lauren says, speaking the truth.
Ben brings Lauren B. back to his place, so you know things are about to get intense. She admits she’s been “anxious” since their last talk. He brings up how she acts different around him than she does the other girls. She says she was unsure how to react to what had been said about her. He made sure she knew that he trusts her. “You make me so happy, Ben,” Lauren tells Ben after their heart-to-heart. They decide to go to his favorite dive bar for a little fun after all that relationship talk. After the date, Lauren is on cloud nine. She can’t stop smiling and saying she’s in love with Ben.
Field Of Love
JoJo gets the next one-on-one, and a huge weight is lifted off of her shoulders. Ben wants her to know he has feelings for her, despite what’s going on with the other girls. He brings her to Chicago for their date, and they start off at Wrigley Field. They get the whole place to themselves like BOSSES. And then they get jerseys with Mr. and Mrs. Higgins printed on them. Lucky girl! After a game of baseball, the two lounge in the middle of the field.
However, JoJo’s holding back. “I don’t feel safe enough to give him my heart just yet,” she says. She really shouldn’t be worried. Ben’s open about the fact that he’s more himself around JoJo than anyone else. They just have this passion, he says.
But he wants to know why she’s so scared of opening her heart to him. She stresses that she’s trying. In the past, she’s loved someone more than they loved her, so she doesn’t want to get her heart broken. JoJo realizes she’s got nothing to lose at this point. It’s all or nothing. She has to open up or lose him forever. “My heart is ready to give to you,” she says.
Caila, Amanda and Becca get a group date. When Emily realizes she gets a one-on-one, she breaks down in tears. There’s only one rose on the 3-on-1, so this is crucial. The girls get tired of flying kites and hanging out in a field. They want to TALK. This is the most important rose yet.
Becca gets right to the point with Ben when she gets alone time. She wants to have that connection with Ben, but they just haven’t had that moment yet. “Just don’t blindside me,” Becca says. Unfortunately, Becca and Caila don’t get the rose. Ben just gets up with Amanda and leaves them there. That’s the one thing I really hate about The Bachelor. These girls just get left behind!
The girls make it home, and they’re both really upset. They both feel like they’re losing him. Meanwhile, they’re not missing too much. Ben and Amanda go to MCDONALD’S and work the drive-thru. I kid you not. Thankfully, that’s not the entire date. He takes her to a carnival! Ben goes on one of the rides, and screams his bloody head off. Amanda doesn’t even flinch. They end their date by pulling off one of The O.C.’s most iconic moments — a kiss on the ferris wheel!
Talking To People Can Be Hard
Emily and Ben head out on the open water for their one-on-one. Emily actually asks if a swan is a swan. Yeah… Meanwhile, the other girls are really worried she’s going to meet his parents. Well, that’s what Ben does. After meeting his parents, this is what Emily says, “Talking to people can really be a hard thing for me.” OMG.
Emily rambles on while talking to Ben’s mom. Like, a lot. She says she wants to be married young, be an NFL cheerleader and doesn’t like vegetables. Ben’s mom isn’t really impressed with her. “She’s definitely a real fun individual,” Ben’s mom says. “She’s a little young for Ben right now.” Basically, both Ben and his mom agree that Emily may not be wife material right now.
The girls notice Emily and Ben are back early. Ben gives the other girls a front row seat to his breakup with Emily. “I just don’t think I can see you being my wife,” Ben tearfully tells Emily. Then Emily is forced to take the walk of shame and tell the girls she’s going home. Ben just gets back on his boat and leaves. Bye, Felicia.
Ben says he has no idea what he’s going to do before the rose ceremony, which will go down OUTSIDE. He goes to the Bachelor God: Chris Harrison. Pretty much everyone is on edge except Amanda. His first rose goes to Lauren B. The second goes to JoJo. It’s down to Caila and Becca. He chooses Caila.
Becca is PISSED. “Why did you do that?” Becca tells him as they walk away. She is furious that she’s been blindsided. Ben claims he was unsure right up until the moment he picked Caila. Okay, sure. He wanted to do this before “the families got involved.” As Becca’s car drives away, she cries, “I want someone to love me back. I don’t want to be alone.”
