Oh, no! At the very last minute, Rihanna was forced to cancel her performance at the 2016 Grammys. Click inside to find out why!
Rihanna, 27, will no longer be performing at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, the ANTI singer pulled out of a performance her fans were really, really looking forward to during the first hour of the show. Bummer!
Ugh, this is the worst Grammys news ever! Rihanna, who was scheduled to perform during the live awards show on Monday night, Feb. 15, canceled her performance because she has bronchitis, reports TMZ.
“Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48-hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords,” a rep for the singer told Us Weekly in an official statement. “The antibiotics she has been on for 3-days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely.”
Rihanna reportedly showed up at the Staples Center, skipped the red carpet, and even went to rehearsals, but that she just couldn’t go on with the show. Sources close to the singer told the outlet she’s been struggling with her bronchitis and was even taking medication to try and knock it out, but no dice.
The report also claims that Rihanna was going to sing “Kiss Me Better” off of her new album, ANTI. She reportedly rehearsed the song twice before being forced to cancel.
As of the time and date this article went live on HollywoodLife.com, a replacement performer had not been announced for Rihanna’s time slot. Our thoughts are with her and we hope she feels better very soon!
