Wow, this is totally shocking. Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer has been accused of brutally assaulting a woman at the Plaza hotel in New York City on Feb. 13 — and her alleged account of what happened is terrifying.
Eliot Spitzer, 56, has some shocking new allegations against him, and it’s all very hard to hear. 25-year-old Svetlana Travis has accused the former governor of assault after being checked into the hospital for some pretty bad injuries. Yikes.

Officers reportedly arrived to Eliot’s room at the Plaza in Manhattan on Feb. 13 after getting a distressed call from the 25-year-old, who claims she’s his girlfriend. But once they made it to the hotel room, Spitzer assured them everything was fine, and Svetlana insisted she no longer needed help, according to the New York Post. But when cops went back to check a second time, they allegedly noticed broken glass, bloodstains and clothing on the floor, and Svetlana was taken to a nearby hospital, where she said Eliot had “attacked her.”
“She said that she told Spitzer she was going back to Russia, and he got upset and started throwing her around, choked her, threw her to the ground and threatened her,” a source told the Post. “She then broke a glass, cut herself and called 911.” Spitzer’s rep, on the other hand, insists there’s “no truth to the allegation.”
Because Svetlana has reportedly been uncooperative and is constantly changing her story, there have been no charges pressed against Eliot as of now, but he was seen visiting her in the hospital on Feb. 14. An open investigation has been opened by the NYPD to look into this case further.
Eliot has a history of scandal, and in 2008, the New York Times revealed that he had been using a prostitution service while serving as governor of New York. He resigned from his position two days later, effective March 17, and although he tried to get back into politics in 2013, he lost in the election to become New York City Comptroller. And these new claims certainly won’t bode well for him either!
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked by these accusations against Eliot Spitzer?!
