It’s one of the most coveted awards of the night, but there can only be one winner. Congratulations to Ed Sheeran for winning Song of the Year for ‘Thinking Out Loud’ at the 2016 Grammy Awards on Feb. 15! Click here to read the full details!
Could there have been another winner? Ed Sheeran, 24, walked away with the prestigious Song of the Year award at the Grammys for “Thinking Out Loud,” and we’re not surprised at all. How much radio airplay did that song get? And more importantly, how many of you already know all the words off by heart?! Form an orderly line!
The award was given out by Stevie Wonder who cooly read the note in braille. And when he announced it, even though Taylor Swift was in the same category for “Blank Space,” she couldn’t help but jump for joy for her pal Ed.
Leaping to the stage, a surprised Ed thanked the Grammys for his award, admitting he wrote the song on a couch! He then thanked his parents who flew in especially to attend the awards with him. On receiving an award from Stevie, he said: “If you would’ve told me at any age I would’ve received an award from Stevie Wonder, I wouldn’t have believed you.”
It was a tough category to call this year, with Ed up against songs from Taylor Swift, Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth and Little Big Town. But we think the best artist won in the end!
Last year, Sam Smith fans will remember he won the Song of the Year Grammy for his smash hit “Stay With Me.” Other stand out winners from the past have included Lorde for “Royals” and “We Are Young” by rock band Fun. Remember them?
L.L. Cool J was the host again for the 58th annual Grammy Awards, that featured some incredible performers. Stands out included Taylor, who stole the show with “Out of the Woods.”
