the Lionel Richie tribute at the 2016 Grammy Awards was by far one of the most magical moments of the night, and that was due in large part to Demi Lovato‘s insane performance of one of Lionel’s biggest hits. Demi launched into “Hello,” belting her heart out and hitting every note. Obviously, everyone and their mother freaked out! Click through to see the reactions to Demi’s performance!
Demi was part of a larger group of performers, including Luke Bryan, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Tyrese Gibson, who paid tribute to the man, the myth, the legend himself: Lionel! The legendary performer was treated to a serenade from the pros, but the consensus is clear: Demi killed it, no doubt about it.

That many people can’t be wrong! Demi strolled out onstage after John’s soulful performance behind the piano, and immediately took the audience by surprise. Wearing just a white blazer, with nothing underneath, she looked strong and confident (sorry), much wiser beyond her 23 years. And she has the pipes to match!

Demi took on the notoriously difficult “Hello,” belting the entire time and not missing a single note. Lionel himself was impressed. He was grinning at Demi from the audience, and cheering when held an unfathomably long note at the end of the song. That’s high praise right there. Demi’s always been amazing, but this is going to elevate her to the star status she rightly deserves!
