This is seriously so sweet. Kobe Bryant, 37, was given the warmest farewell at the 65th NBA all-star game on Feb. 14 with a touching tribute video full of kind works from his colleagues and fans. Plus, the speech he gave afterward made out hearts melt. Find out what he said, here.
The 65th annual NBA all-star game was all about Kobe on Feb. 14. Drake showed up wearing a “Farewell Mambe” varsity jacket to send his boy out in style. He got a super-special introduction to the big game, and tons of hugs and high fives from fans, but the most touching moment was when a touching tribute videos was played full of Mamba’s biggest b-ball moments and heartfelt messages from his fellow players. But even better was his awesome speech.
“I just want to thank you guys for all of your support for all these years,” said Kobe, obviously emotional. “I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to play the game that I love, and be in the NBA for more than half my life, and it’s a thrill to be here in this all star game so thank you for voting me in.”
“Getting a chance to be around all these young players here. When I first started playing most of them were my kids’ age now so it feels so good to be able to speak to them about the game to be able to share some of the knowledge that I’ve learned throughout my career to them so they can carry on the tradition of the NBA and hopefully play 20 years themselves so thank you so much. Now I’ve gotta go get loose, thank you!” Congrats, Kobe! You will be missed.
