Let’s begin with the soft, amazing waves like the ones Blake Lively is so good at. “Starting on dry hair, apply Redken Diamond Oil from mid-length to your ends to add shine to the overall look,” Rodney advises. “Depending on the length of your hair, use a 1″ to 2”-wide curling iron. Instead of twisting the iron, wrap hair around the barrel to secure it. Hold the ends of the hair without closing the barrel cover for 5 seconds. Instead of pulling the iron out, let the hair fall out of the barrel. Let the curl cool for a few seconds, then run your fingers through.” Here’s an extra tip: “If you leave the ends of your hair out of the curling iron your waves will look more natural instead of over-curled.” Amazing!

Strapped for time? Try an effortless top knot instead, which has the added bonus of allowing your makeup to be the center of attention. “Flip your head over and comb all of your hair into a secure high ponytail — you can also back comb your hair using your fingers,” Rodney says. “Take the hair that is hanging out of the ponytail and twist it while simultaneously wrapping it around the ponytail holder. You can either pull the ends of your hair through the wrapped strands for a messy top knot, or secure the ends of the bun with a bobby pin. Remember to secure the hair loosely to prevent that ballerina look, and create more of an editorial look.” Such a good tip!

Are you blessed with thick, healthy locks like Selena G? Rodney has the best tips for you, lucky girl: “It is important to tend to your roots. First, blow dry your hair in sections using Redken Guts Volume Spray. This will literally give your hair “guts”, creating volume and fullness,” Rodney instructs. “As you blow dry, with a round brush, brush directly over the roots, lifting the hair halfway. The ends of your hair should be left out of the brush.” Perfect.
