This will make you cry! Rory Feek is revealing how he plans to spend his final Valentine’s day with his dying wife Joey, and since her weakened condition can’t allow for any activities, he’s found a special way to share their love story by her bedside.
Brave Joey Feek, 40, continues to cling to life in her final days of battling terminal cancer, but she’s done what was thought to be impossible just a few months ago and has almost made it to Valentine’s Day. Her loving husband Rory, 50, wants her to know how special and everlasting the country music duo’s love has been, and he has the sweetest thing planned to show her how life-changing their relationship has been to him. Read on for what he has in store for the big day.
Rory revealed that the couple’s first date was on Feb. 14, 2002, so the day will always be so special to them. “What I really want to do on this, our 14th Valentines together, is share a romantic candle-lit dinner with my bride: grill out rib-eyes on the campfire back home, pour two glasses of red wine and sit across from her at our kitchen table – just like we’ve done on more than one special occasion. But those things aren’t able to happen this year,” he notes as Joey is in her final days of life.
This year Joey’s condition, where she has just days to live, has caused him to change their plans. “So my hope this year instead is to hold her hand and take her on a ‘virtual’ walk down memory lane together…with pictures and videos on my laptop. I want to take her back to where our lives first began together, and relive this beautiful journey that God has taken us on…from that first song she heard me sing at the Bluebird cafe, to the last one we sang together as we stood on stage and took our final bow… to the songs that she will leave behind here on earth and the ones she will soon sing for eternity to our sweet Lord in that heavenly choir up yonder.” Get Rory+Joey’s Hymns by clicking here.
“A trip down memory lane together…That, and I’m hoping for a few soft kisses. The passion for each other that Joey and I once had has been replaced by the sweetest, gentlest kisses. I live for those kisses. They are enough,” he poignantly ends the open letter. OMG, we are in tears!
