The MILLY fall/winter 2016 collection was breathtaking. We loved all of the bold colors and cool, patterned jackets. We couldn’t help but picture Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens in some of the pieces from the collection — do you agree?
The MILLY fashion show was everything we imagined and more. The NYFW show on Feb. 12, was full of embellishments and pleats and we loved every minute of it. The two hues that were the most prominent in the collection were red and green and they added such a cool pop of color to all of the oversized jackets. While we were watching the show, we couldn’t help but think of Selena Gomez, 23, and Vanessa Hudgens, 27, — there were a ton of pieces we could see these gals in! What did you guys think of the new collection?

The name of the MILLY fall/winter 2016 collection was ‘The Intimacy Of Winter,’ and Michelle Smith, founder and designer of MILLY, explained the collection wonderfully. “Winter is a time women often feel like their femininity lies dormant. I wanted to embrace what can happen underneath all those layers, the sensuality of the female form, revealed… How we can celebrate the idea of intimacy and seduction through new silhouettes, vibrant color, and fabrications in ways that feel unexpected. How femininity today can be what one wouldn’t always expect. I became very engaged with the small things; the subtle, intimate details. The nape of the neck, a coat that can reveal the slightest sliver of skin. A top that traces the curve of the shoulder to the collarbone.”
Michelle continued, “For me, the juxtaposition creates the surprise, and in turn, the sensuality. A voluminous silhouette in a sheer luxurious fabric… a matte bonded wool commonly used in menswear, unexpectedly sculpted into ruffles and cascades. A bold, intricately hand-cut jacquard fabric used in a precise, minimal silhouette. It’s those surprising little things, those juxtapositions and intimate exposures, which are my inspiration and passion for MILLY fall/winter 2016.” Wow, didn’t that give you the chills?
When we saw all of the models strut down the runway in cool, pleated, and some oversized coats, we couldn’t help but think of our fave gal Selena. Sels is a lover of all types of cool patterned coats, and these would look great on her.
We also couldn’t stop thinking about Vanessa in the edgy dresses with a pop of red, considering she has a bit of a punk-rock style.
We loved the collection and we can’t wait to SHOP for it — can you?
