Defense mode is in full-force for Kanye West right now! The rapper totally stands behind his shocking lyric about Taylor Swift on his new song, ‘Famous,’ and says calling her a ‘b**tch’ in the song was meant as a term of endearment. Uhh….what?
Kanye West, 38, insists he meant no harm by rapping about Taylor Swift, 26, on his new song “Famous.” In fact, he claims the offensive lyric about the singer wasn’t meant to be a “diss” at all, because it was actually ‘endearing.’ Huh?!
“B**tch is an endearing term in hip hop, like the word N***a,” Kanye tweeted on Feb. 12, in reference to the line, “I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex, I made that b**tch famous,” from the song. Okay, but even if the word b**tch was meant in an endearing way, it’s still pretty darn rude to say that somebody who’s so beloved and successful is only famous because of you, Kanye! The tweet was just one in a major rant of Kanye defending himself after getting called out for dissing Taylor. “First thing is I’m an artist and as an artist I will express how I feel with no censorship,” he began. He later added that he “called Taylor and had an hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings,” and “It’s actually something Taylor came up with…She was having dinner with one of our friends who’s name I will keep out of this and she told him I can’t be mad at Kanye because he made me famous! #FACTS.”
WHOA, that definitely changes things a little! But it’s a different story than Taylor’s camp is telling. “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single “Famous” on her Twitter account,” the singer’s rep said in a statement. “She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that b***h famous.'” So…which is it?! Who do we believe here?!
