The Grammy Awards stage is a place where so many iconic performances have taken place over the years, but here are the BEST of the BEST! Click inside to WATCH performances by Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and more!
Before the 2016 Grammy Awards take place on Monday, Feb. 15, let’s take a look back at some of the most incredible performances that have graced their stage.
Beyonce & Tina Turner: “Proud Mary” (2008)
It was an unforgettable performance from the moment it began, with Beyonce speaking an introduction about all of the incredible women who had inspired her as an artist. From Donna Summer to Aretha Franklin, everyone got a shout out, but that was only the beginning. After she introduced Tina Turner, the legendary singer performed a medley of her hits from over the years. Then, she brought out Beyonce, and together they absolutely slayed “Proud Mary.” Incredible!
Adele: “Rolling In The Deep” (2012)
This wasn’t a performance, it was a comeback — an EPIC comeback. It was Adele‘s first public performance after being forced to cancel an entire North American tour due to a hemorrhaged vocal cord. From the moment Adele belted out that first note of “Rolling In The Deep,” you knew that she was back, and that the performance was going to be one for the history books.
Taylor Swift: “All To Well” (2014)
It’s never a dull moment when Taylor Swift is on stage, but at the 2014 Grammy Awards it felt like she was sending a message instead of just performing the love ballad. She started out slow, showing off her talent on the keys, singing the song with a passion that told the audience she could feel each word as it slipped through her lips. But when the beat picked up and the band kicked in, things got extra dramatic — including Taylor rocking a hair flip that later followed her on the Red tour and became a signature move for the song.
Coldplay with Jay Z: “Lost” (2009)
One thing the Grammys is known for is bringing different genres, new and old, together. That’s exactly what went down when Chris Martin of Coldplay took the stage with nothing but a piano to sing the band’s “Lost,” which featured a surprise appearance by his longtime friend, rapper Jay Z. As soon as Jay walked onto the stage and gave the mic his signature “ungh,” the crowd went wild. It was amazing!
