Oops! In a new interview, Chris Martin reveals that he wrote a song specifically to sing with Beyonce, but that she ‘sweetly’ told him it was pretty ‘awful.’
Apparently Chris Martin, 38, is not as flawless as Beyonce, 34, wishes he could be. The Coldplay singer just revealed that he once wrote a duet for the two of them, but that the Queen Bee very quickly turned it down.
Before the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Chris Martin tried to talk Beyonce into collaborating on song together. However, when he presented said song — that he wrote himself — to his longtime friend, she let him know that it was not going to happen. Eek!
Chris explained that Beyonce turned the song down “in the sweetest possible way: She told me, ‘I really like you – but this is awful.'” Chris revealed the truth behind his Beyonce duet idea in his cover issue of Rolling Stone. Hey, at least Beyonce was nice about it!
In the interview, Chris also opened up about his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow, who was on-hand for his Super Bowl performance along with their two kids, Apple and Moses. “I have a very wonderful separation-divorce. It’s a divorce – but it’s a weird one… I don’t think about that word [divorce] very often,” Chris told the magazine, confirming that he and Gwyneth have not actually gone through with their legal divorce.
Thankfully, their romance-turned-friendship has made a smooth transition for their celebrity BFF’s, Beyonce and her husband, Jay Z!
