Whoopsie! Taraji P. Henson gave a huge shout out to Maroon 5 for their Super Bowl 50 Halftime performance, but the only problem is, it was Coldplay doing the honors and not Adam Levine’s outfit. Was this general confusion or a total diss to the English rockers?!
Oh snap!! Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson, 45, was either totally not feeling Coldplay‘s brand of slightly bland alternative pop during their Super Bowl 50 Halftime act, or she thinks that they’re the same as Maroon 5, since she totally gave the latter a shout out on Instagram. True, they both pop bands with catchy tunes led by talented lead singers and fairly anonymous fellow musicians. But you’ll never believe her Instrgram comment about Coldplay‘s big half time show. Read on for her incredible burn!
Okay, after seeing Taraji’s biting sense of humor in interviews and watching her as Cookie Lyon on Empire, we’re pretty sure they’re very close to being the same person, so when she threw out her joy that Maroon 5 onstage at Super Bowl 50, we have a feeling it was some major shade throwing. “YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!! #maroon5 is life to me!!! #superbowl50 #HappyCamper I am,” she tagged an Instagram video shot from the stands of Coldplay performing Head Full Of Dreams.
We’ll give Taraji this, it does totally sound like a song Adam Levine could easily pull off, even though it is Chris Martin‘s baby. Even Adam was clearly got a laugh at this, regramming her now deleted post with the caption “THIS.”

It seems like the Super Bowl producers knew in advance that Coldplay probably didn’t have the energy to sustain an entire 11 minutes of Halftime entertainment, so after the band got in a few of their top hits, 2014’s entertainer Bruno Mars took the stage and did a throw down version of “Uptown Funk” to bring the audience back to life.
Then the night BLEW UP when Beyonce came in at the other end of the field and the half time show then belonged totally to our Queen B, as she debuted her new song “Formation” live for the first time. We have a feeling the night got much more interesting for Taraji….and well, almost the entire viewing audience when Bruno and Bey came in to liven things up!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Taraji was totally dissing on Coldplay for mistaking them for Maroon 5?
