Larry David brought his infamous Bernie Sanders impression back to ‘SNL,’ and he did NOT disappoint. The presidential candidate was spoofed in ‘Bern Your Enthusiasm,’ a hilarious story about the Iowa caucus. Click through to watch!
Bernie Sanders, 74, got the star treatment on the February 6 episode of Saturday Night Live with a masterful impersonation by host Larry David, who poked some good fun at his loss at the Iowa caucus! The pre-taped segment, a parody of Larry’s celebrated show Curb Your Enthusiasm, called Bern Your Enthusiasm, was the most incredible moment of the night! Click through to watch!
Holy moly, was this amazing! Larry did a perfect Bernie impression, as he starred in a perfect send up of Larry’s show! We’re used to seeing Larry kill it as Bernie nearly every week on SNL, but this time, he got a full sketch to prove his brilliance! It proved even further that the two men are basically the same person!
The episode centered around Bernie being reluctant to get out there and meet the people during his campaign in Des Moines before the Iowa caucus, not wanting to shake people’s hands — just like Larry’s germaphobic character on Curb. The curmudgeonly character grumped his way through the election, pissing off his entire election staff, and then he can’t believe he lost the caucus by 0.2% — those five people he didn’t want to interact with. Omg.
In an amazing move, Bernie himself later appeared in a sketch alongside Larry! See, they’re not the same person! He later popped up in a hilarious skit about a wealthy seafarer attempting to jump into a lifeboat with the woman and children when the Titanic is sinking! Bernie slams him for being in the 1%, and tells the whole group about the wonders of Democratic Socialism. They don’t quite understand, but the whole thing is hilarious!
