Start polishing up the Lombardi Trophy for Cam Newton. When Super Bowl 50 is all over on Feb. 7, the Carolina Panthers aren’t just going to stand victorious — they’re going to dance and dab their way to the NFL championship. Sorry, Denver Broncos fans. Here’s why the Panthers are going to win.
The Carolina Panthers are the odds-on favorites to win Super Bowl 50, and anyone who has watched the NFL this season has known that since last October. Cam Newton, 26, and his near-flawless team have steamrolled the competition all year. Peyton Manning, 39, and his Denver Broncos might give the Panthers a challenge in the Super Bowl, but spoiler alert: the Panthers are going to win.
Two words that will ultimately seal the deal for Carolina on Feb. 7 are “Cam Newton.” He has scored 50 touchdowns this year and has thrown for nearly 5,000 yards, according to Fox Sports. He also has a 99.2 passer rating. That’s unreal, and this rocket-launcher arm is going to light up the scoreboard — especially when he’s tossing to Greg Olsen, who has recorded his second straight 1,000-yard season.
Along with power, Cam also has precision and accuracy. Not to mention that out of those 50 touchdowns he’s scored, Cam has rushed for 12 of them, according to ESPN. If Cam isn’t handing the ball off to Jonathan Stewart or Mike Tolbert, he just might run into the end zone himself.
Cam shouldn’t have to worry about doing that, as the Panthers’ running game has left teams like the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals looking like fools. The team has the most base running plays in the NFL. They also have plenty of misdirection plays in their arsenal. You think they’re going one way, but they’re actually already down the field, scoring another touchdown.
Now, I will give it to the Broncos: they have a great defense. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware are two of the best players in the league. But, the Denver defense is not perfect. Remember, Denver allowed Tom Brady, 38, and the New England Patriots almost steal the AFC Championship game away. Denver can’t quit in the fourth quarter like, because Carolina certainly won’t.
The Panthers defense is also scary-good. Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall has admitted that he thinks Carolina’s Luke Kuechly is the best linebacker in the NFL. Team Luke up with Thomas Davis and the rest of the defensive line, and Peyton’s “last rodeo” is going to be over faster than he thinks. Plus, considering that Peyton has the second most interceptions in the NFL this season — yeah, Super Bowl 50 it’s not going to be fun for him.
Better get used to seeing Cam dabbing with a shiny Super Bowl Ring on his finger, Hollywoodlifers, because I think the Panthers are going to win. What do you think?
