OMG, this would be the best thing EVER! Shawn Mendes hinted in a new interview that he may be collaborating with Niall Horan on a new song, and we totally can’t wait. As long as it doesn’t mean Niall is going solo and leaving One Direction, of course!
Shawn Mendes, 17, and Niall Horan, 23, on the same song?! YES PLEASE! The guys have been chatting recently about possibly working together, and with Niall having so much free time thanks to One Direction’s hiatus, we don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t happen.
The “Stitches” singer was asked which 1D member he’d want to collaborate during an interview with Capital FM, and surprisingly revealed that he’d already been talking to Niall about doing just that. “I met him in America once and he reached out to me over Twitter,” Shawn explained. “So I got to talk to him a little bit. He seems really cool, really genuine.”
But things went one step further, with Niall telling the 17-year-old, “Give me a text if you’re ever interested in writing or whatever.” SO what’s the verdict? “If we can figure out a time and place, definitely,” Shawn confirmed. AHHHH, this needs to happen ASAP. Stream music from Shawn and more artists ad-free RIGHT HERE.
Of course, Directioners are obviously a little concerned about Niall doing anything separate from the group, but Shawn clearly isn’t looking to split up any famous bands here! He famously recorded the duet “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Camila Cabello, 18, of Fifth Harmony, and she made it clear that she’s NOT leaving her girls behind just because of it.
“It’s so difficult to watch people criticize me and my intentions,” she admitted to Seventeen. “It’s been s****y. They turned it into a conspiracy theory. We literally just wrote a song backstage and it ended up being something awesome. It wasn’t a career move that I carefully planned out.” Phew!
HollywoodLifers, would you want to hear Niall and Shawn collaborate on a song?
