So shocking! We still can’t believe Dave Mirra is gone, as he lived such a huge and hearty life. He dominated the sport of BMX competitions, went on to build successful businesses and even became a triathlete. With that amazing life, we’re so stunned that he’d commit suicide.
This is just beyond heartbreaking! Looking at Dave Mirra‘s life in pictures show what an incredible athlete he was, so committed to keeping his body strong and healthy! He also was so proud of the businesses and innovations he brought the world of biking. Dave kept an active Instagram and it was clear how much the 41-year-old loved being on a bike well after his days as a pro BMX competitor ended.
While he’s well-known for his 24 X-Games medals in BMX, after Dave retired from the sport he still continued to carry on close relationships with bike companies, especially as be became a convert to the world of triathlons in 2012. In one photo he’s show alongside his custom designed black Cervelo P5 cycle that he competed with in triathlons. While it can’t see directly seen in the photo, the bike’s top tube includes the names of his wife Lauren, daugthers Madi and Kenzi, and even the names of the two family dogs, Rock and Rex, ensuring that his family was always close to him every time he was on that amazing cycle.
Another photo shows him riding the bike that he trained on daily and competed with. It’s clear his body is a total machine as he looks to be one hundred percent trim muscle, and all that triathlon training totally gave him a new shape from his BMX days. It wasn’t just triathlons though that captured his post BMX career’s attention though.
Dave was also very much involved in racing Mini-Cooper RX’s as he was ever the thrill seeker. He’s seen proudly next to his black and red Mini that he drove in numerous events, and it’s clear that Dave had a favorite color design, as it’s black with red flourishes just like the bike he raced on. And even when he wasn’t racing, he was still a big fan of attending the events as another photo shows.
But the picture that make us want to really start bawling is one alongside his throwback shot with fellow BMX Rider and BFF T.J. Lavin. They’re shown alongside some pals back in the day looking so happy. T.J. took over hosting MTV’s The Challenge from Dave after his popular two-season stint hosting the show in 2004 and 2005’s seasons
Our hearts go out to Dave’s family, friends and fans after Dave’s passing.
