Celine Dion couldn’t hold back the tears when she returned to Las Vegas on Feb. 3 for a memorial in honor of her late husband, René Angélil. The singer was overcome with emotions as she took to the stage and she burst into tears.
Celine Dion has endured the worst month of her life. She lost her husband, René Angélil and brother within the same week, both from cancer. Rene’s life was remembered at a memorial at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum in Las Vegas in front of 4,000 friends, family, fans and music executives. When Celine, 47, took the stage to close out the ceremony, she broke down and said,
“This is my home away from home,” Celine said fighting back tears. “At the same time I’m supposed to feel extremely comfortable being home and right now I’m not sure how comfortable I feel. I feel his love in this room. I feel his strength and his warmth being reflected in all of you,’ she said as her voice began to quiver. René always surrounded me with the best people who believed in us and always worked so hard on our behalf. On behalf of my family, thank you again for being here with us this evening for this beautiful tribute to mon amour. René I love you, so much, merci, good night.” David Foster performed at the event and Caesars even promoted the live stream on their Instagram.
Celine and Rene were married for 21 years and together they have 15-year-old Rene-Charles and 5-year-old twin boys, Eddy and Nelson. Our hearts absolutely break for Celine and her family during this incredibly difficult time in their lives. We know how much Celine loved Rene and how difficult it will be for her to carry on without him.
A Celebration of Life for René Angélil will be broadcast via live stream on Wednesday, Feb. 3 beginning at 7:00 p.m. (PST) live from The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The event will feature a series of guest speakers celebrating the life of René Angélil through stories and reminiscences. We hope you will join for the Celebration via live stream on www.reneangelilcelebrationoflife.com
