Alec Baldwin is throwing a huge bash for Super Bowl 50, but he’s also throwing some shade at Tom Brady. In a teaser for Amazon’s Super Bowl commercial, Alec mocks Tom’s notorious ‘Deflate-Gate’ scandal with the help of a very soft cheese football. Click to watch.
It looks like Alec Baldwin, 57, isn’t a big fan of the New England Patriots. With Super Bowl 50 fast approaching, the 30 Rock star couldn’t help but poke fun at “Deflate Gate,” mocking Tom Brady, 38, and his “soft balls” in a teaser for Amazon’s new Super Bowl commercial.
Alec is not happy with what he sees at the start of the teaser (the full ad will air during the big game on Feb. 7.) As he inspects some of the snacks for his Super Bowl 50 bash, he says, “Is this the best you can do with the cheese footballs, Pierre?”
Uh-oh. The French chef rightfully points out how Brie, though delicious, is a very mushy cheese and not the best for making footballs. This will not do, so Alec quickly orders sixty wheels of Pecorino through Alexa, a cloud-based voice service that’s available with Amazon Echo. Problem solved!
“There will be no soft footballs this year,” Alec says. “Not on my watch.” Ha! “Deflate-Gate” slam for the win! Unfortunately, the chefs didn’t get the joke, even with Alec pointing it out to them. Perhaps they’re fans of soccer?
As for Alec, hopefully Tom has a better sense of humor about mocking the scandal that plagued the Patriots quarterback throughout the year. However, since Alec was hanging out with Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino, 54, in the first teaser for Amazon’s Super Bowl commercial, it makes sense that he would take a shot at Tom.
Amazon is certainly enjoying the lead up to its first ever Super Bowl commercial. “We thought the Super Bowl was a great chance to tell even more people about what Echo and Alexa can do, and have some fun while doing it,” said Neil Lindsay, Amazon’s VP of devices, according to AdAge.
Now, which funny ad will win the Super Bowl Commercial game? Will Alec and Amazon take home the win, or will it be Kevin Hart, 36, in his overprotective father spot? Will it Christopher Walken, 72, and his socks score big, or will Willem Dafoe, 60, in Marilyn Monroe’s dress blow the competition away?
