This is absolutely heartbreaking. Tony Steward, a linebacker for the Buffalo Bills, has lost his beautiful fiancee, Brittany Burns, just two months after she was diagnosed with cancer in December. So unbelievably sad.
Tony Steward’s fiancee, Brittany Burns, 26, is dead after just two months of fighting a difficult battle with cancer. The Buffalo Bills linebacker confirmed the news of his gorgeous fiancee’s death on Feb. 2 with a touching tribute post. As Brittany had pointed out on Instagram just weeks earlier, the end of 2015 was a crazy time for the couple: Tony proposed after more than three years of dating, but it happened the same month Brittany learned of her diagnosis.
The 26-year-old vowed to fight the disease hard, and just one week ago, she was optimistic on her social media account. Things obviously took a sudden turn for the worse, though, and Tony took to Instagram Feb. 2 to share the heartbreaking news and send a message of love to his girl.
“Wow BEAUTIFUL is the only way I know you. You have the biggest heart I have ever seen in my entire life and I promise you that it will live on in me, our family and every single soul you have touched,” he wrote. “You are the strongest and most loving soul to step foot in this world. You have been my rock, my motivation, my heart, my soulmate, my everything since the day I laid eyes on you. Every single day of your life you have been a fighter and I know this because of the unbelievable family you brought me into. We all honor everything you stand for in life. I will continue to be the person that you always bring out in me. Believe me when I say that I deeply love you with every ounce of everything in me. Love always, your fiance.”
Tony was selected by the Bills in the 6th round of the 2015 NFL draft, and played seven games with the team this season, although he finished it out with an injury. After Brittany’s diagnosis, the pair created a campaign called Fight Like A Girl to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer, and you can support the cause HERE.
Without a doubt one of if not the strongest, bravest, big hearted women I know. I'm lucky to have her as my life partner. Stay strong @bburns keep #fightinglikeagirl and you will beat this with no problem. I love you so much and can't wait to be with you next week.
